Open Question: Best place to live in the U.S. for a 25yr old single male with job security?

I am self employed and have the luxury of getting paid by working in-house. Since I am now not obligated to live anywhere (currently living in Montana) and will have a job wherever I go, where should I move!? I have moved to Oregon (Salem area); Tempe, Az; and Temecula, CA. I feel like I need to have a new adventure and should head East. Love the idea of New York, but I'm assuming there are many wonderful places close by to allow me to get my NY fix without living in the chaoticness of the huge city? Maybe NY is an awesome place to live!? I really don't know anything about the states East of MT! Pretty open to everything climate wise, so just tell me where the best place to live is and why!
